Pin Map and Wiring Definition

Four contacts do not automatically define one universal protocol. A typical project may allocate the contacts to power, ground and a differential data pair, or use them for signal, detection and control functions.

The Pin Map at both ends must confirm whether the wiring is straight-through, mirrored or application-specific. Orientation and polarity should also be reviewed to prevent reverse connection during mating.

Engineering Note: Because the electrical path passes through two magnetic interfaces, voltage drop, contact resistance and signal performance should be evaluated across the complete cable assembly rather than at one connector end only.

Does 4 Pin automatically mean USB data?

No. Four contacts alone do not confirm USB or another protocol. The internal wiring and connected electronics must also be reviewed.
